Maizie's Favorites: Dogwood
I am excited to share another segment highlighting some of my favorite women-owned, small businesses. Last time, we featured Aleysa Bags - a bag for the hard working woman!
This month, we are thrilled to feature Dogwood.
Dogwood creates dog beds that are designed to work with a home’s decor using traditional but versatile fabrics and materials. They offer a range of sizes and styles to comfortably accommodate any dog - so dogs love them just as much as their owners do! Dogwood also work with custom fabrics and colors so the sky is the limit in terms of making the bed truly your own.
I asked founder Emily Bostwick what is her favorite design tip, and she shared:
"I really try to always mix old and new. My personal taste skews traditional and I do a ton of home and accessories shopping on websites like Chairish, eBay and Etsy as well as local antiques stores, but try to make sure things like artwork, upholstery, rugs, lighting, and window treatments are appropriate to the scale of the room, clean, and tailored/fit appropriately."
When asked about her favorite hostess gifts:
“ If they’re a dog owner they're definitely getting a bed :) Our new Mat Beds in particular are great because they’re really easy to move around and very adaptable to different parts of the home. Also love anything Julia Amory - a pareo or Husband Shirt for a girls’ night thank you, a set of placemats and napkins for a dinner party. A set of cocktail napkins for a cocktail party...love all of her things so much. She has the most amazing patterns and colors."
